The Route

Hello : )

I have just finished the route and here is a quick google maps version of it. These are not all the final roads but its the general direction town to town.

I had to put it in a tiny URL as the google one was really long.  http://tinyurl.com/JOGLE

Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements or places that are nice, if so please leave a comment or a an email :P

Ciao

New equipment :)

Having just finished all my January exams, I decided to treat myself and get some new equipment for my bike. I have gone a bit overboard spending around £200 but I cant wait for it all to arrive.

The bike shop in my town is poorly stocked and the people there are more knowledgable of mountain bikes etc.

Because of this I cycled to their other shop about a 30 mile round trip before work and got loads of stuff. I have now ordered a Pannier rack, a cycling computer, some carbon soled cycling shoes and peddles with the cleats, a mud guard and I found a small one man tent in an outdoors shop.

I did have some cash on me at the time so I bought some over shoe's, it makes such a difference and I could really notice how warm my feet were cycling home :P.

In a few weeks its the half-term holidays so I am planning few larger trips, the first of which is from Adlington where Im going to visit some family then cycle back to Mid Wales. Its about 120 miles and should be great fun. I will get the train there and cycle back which is what I did for the cross wales trip.

The second trip in the pipeline is cycling to Snowdonia and back with my friend Rhys. I am really looking foreword to both of these.

As for the John O' Groats - Land's End trip, planning came to a halt during exams but I hope to be setting dates within a few weeks and then we start to book train tickets :P.

Training wise, Rhys and I have been getting up at stupid times in the morning, as early as 5:30 and doing 15-25 miles before school every other day. I am also continuing to cycle everywhere, to sixthform, work etc and am still doing my 30-60 mile trips twice at the weekend.

I set my record in distance last weekend making 62.4 miles in 4 1/2 hours over some huge hills. I was so pleased but so tired too and had work 2 hours after I got back.

I will have more pictures up soon and the specific info about the stuff I have bought

Its a new year I better get planning :P

Happy New Year :)

So its finally 2009, a year of big change for me,  I will be off to Uni in just a few months.

With the start of the new year, we have begun to plan the Lands End to John O' Groats trips as its also only a few months away.

We have started on the route and I will upload a copy when we have a completed one.  This planning is really exciting for us and is an important part of the experience. I hope to have a few videos of the planning uploaded in a few weeks.

Training

With the new year we have also started on a new training regieme which includes alot of cycling :P, the gym, swimming and jogging.

As well as getting as getting us fit, the extra time on the road will give us invaulable experience as we are still kinda novices.

In addition to this I have planned  a few 100-150 mile weekend rides for the next two months and should have some more pictures to put up from those.

-----------------------------------------

I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who Sponsored me for the Cross Wales Charity ride which was a success, overall raising around £200 and I will have some more photos from that uploaded in a few weeks.

Aberystwyth to the hills

Here are the pictures of aberystwth to about 11 miles in at the top of a huge hill. 8 of those 11 miles are a nasty hill and it was hard going. The hail became quite bad at this points which led to bad flooding on the road with streams of water going down the hill.

Back on track :P

It has been a while since I last posted, this due to me bing very busy with work and A-levels. Alot has happened since I last posted, I have cycled across wales, bought a new bike and alot of equipment and have started to plan my route.

A few weeks ago I cycled across wales (and a bit into England) to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance. I set off early in the morning on the 8:00 train to aberystwyth.

The train journey took an hour and then I at the starting line :P.  It was at this point that the rain and hail began but that just made it all more fun.

(Ill post the picture in another post)

Training, a new bike? and google map routes.

Since I last posted on here, I have done alot of training and I have got closer to organizing the route. I have recently gone back to school and I have got a weekend job where I work mostly nights so I have had less time to train but I have gone out after school and before work at the weekend.

With my money from my job I am planning to buy a new bike, I have done a little research and I found this bike where you can build it to your specifications. I am looking at spending £1400 at the most with all the accessories so if anyone has any bike to recommend then please contact me via commenting to leaving me an email.

Rhys who I have mentioned on a previous post has shown me a way to put all my routes that I have cycled on Google maps so I have done so and they can be found here and here. I think its pretty cool being able to see what I have cycled :P. There are loads of other routes but I have not had the time to add them yet.

Well this is it until next time :P

bye
I have a got a pannier rack and bags for my bike and is nice not having to have a rucksack. :P Those bags were cheap ones from Lidl and I am gonna get some nicer ones in a few days with my Paycheck :)

This is the road bike that I used and I loved it. It is so easy to cycle and it makes going up hills so much easier.
